John Julius Kuhnert

	John Julius Kuhnert, age 96, formerly of Cutler, passed away in the Fair Acres Nursing Home in DuQuoin on Monday, October 28, 2002 at 4:15 a.m.
	John was born May 13, 1906 to August and Elizabeth (Loos) Kuhnert of Pinckneyville.  John married Hilda Marie Tanner on January 20, 1931.  John and Hilda lived in Cutler for more than 50 years.  They had three children, Wanda Lee, Jerry James and Randall Rex.
	John worked as a coal miner for over 40 years and was a member of the UMWA.  He last worked at Southwestern Illinois Coal Co. before retiring in 1972.  John was also active with the Cutler Senior Citizens.
	John liked to hunt and fish.  His most enjoyable hobby was 'hogging' catfish with his sons, Randy and Jerry and grandson, Monte.  John enjoyed working in his garden..  Throughout his retirement, you could find him in his yard at his home in Cutler.  John was a devout Christian.  He considered the 'Great Commission' his personal commitment from God.  He shared Christ at every opportunity.  He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Cutler.
	He is survived by his wife, Hilda of Fair Acres Nursing Home in DuQuoin where she and John had been residents for three years; two daughters-in-law, Jane Kuhnert of Cutler and Linda Kuhnert of Sparta; grandchildren, Eric Hahs of Novato, Calif., Monte Kuhnert and wife Kristie of DuQuoin and their children, Jerry Elvis and Haley Rose, Jill LaVieri and husband John of Lombard and their daughter, Joli Marie, Krista Kuhnert-Gainer and husband Jay of Nashville, Tenn. and their son James Vincent 'Rex' Gainer IV and Ginger Kuhnert of Carbondale and her children, Spencer Thomas Kuhnert and Maci Elyse Collins.  He is also survived by a sister, Augusta Lacy and two brothers, Les Kuhnert and Lee Kuhnert, all of Pinckneyville.
	He was preceded in death by his parents; three children, Wanda Lee Hahs, Jerry James Kuhnert and Randall Rex Kuhnert; a grandson, Kurt Hahs; eight brothers and sisters, Harry, Lillian, Vera, Louis, Willard, Dale, Leonard and Bonnie.
	Funeral services were held at the Pyatt-Harrawood Funeral Home in Pinckneyville on Wednesday, October 30 at 3 p.m.  Interment was in the Mueller Hill Cemetery in Pinckneyville.
	Visitation was held at the Pyatt-Harrawood Funeral Home on Wednesday from 1 to 3 p.m.
	 Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church in Cutler.
